As you get further South in Oak Creek Canyon, you begin to see the red rock formations typical of Sedona. A short way out of Sedona is Red Rock Canyon which offers even more impressive views of the red cliffs.

We followed 89A on out of Sedona, up the mountain to Jerome and on over into the Prescott valley. We eventually made our way down to the Interstate and stopped near the California State border for a shake at McDonalds. It was 112 ° F! From there we drove on through the desert and into the Los Angeles Area, making a detour through Palm Springs just to see what it looked like.
