Springtime in Texas - 2003 |
In the spirit of April fool, I suppose, we took a trip down to Palestine on April 1, 2003 to see the trees blooming in their Davey Dogwood Park. Spectacular! They appear to be a week or so ahead of those elsewhere around North Texas. On the way we wandered through the Ennis area and were disappointed by the poor bluebonnet conditions on Sugar Ridge road, but perhaps other areas around are better. We'll check back in a couple of weeks. Coming back through Tyler, we verified that the camellias are in full bloom and the azaleas are coming along nicely. Don't miss 'em! |
Along the way we noted numerous displays of flags and yellow ribbons out in the country. This gate near Bristol was festooned with multiple yellow ribbons as well as an eagle. |
March 24, 2003: On the spur of the moment, we made a quick trip over to Tyler to check up on the state of Spring in East Texas. Let me tell you it's here! The redbuds are in full bloom, the dogwoods are popping out right and left, wisteria is already in full bloom, and the azaleas will be at their prime in a week or two. Looks like the first two weeks of April are going to be great! This was taken in the Tyler State Park. |
