Texas State Fair 2002 |
In return, Tex has arranged some stellar entertainment. This poster hung on the entrance to the Cotton Bowl is promoting a couple of upcoming shows there. In addition, there are plenty of free acts scattered around the fair. Folks such as Hank Williams Jr., Alan Jackson, the Derailers, and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders are keeping the crowds entertained. |
While we were standing outside the Corny dog stand across from Big Tex, this group of Belgian "Stilt walkers" showed up and put on a show for us. They were also in the parade that night. |
Over in the Hall of State, there was a very interesting exhibit of memorabilia from the JFK Memorial Library entitled "Let Us Begin". Lots of things collected by JFK's secretary. Very interesting. No pictures allowed, so I'll substitute this picture of the golden warrior over the entrance. |
Down on the midway things were pretty much as usual. Several new rides this year, some so extreme that they have their own section named the "Thrill way". It includes the Big Shot, Skycoaster, Booster, and the Adrenaline Drop. We watched, but didn't ride. |
After watching the folks playing the midway games, and a disappointing try at shooting out the red heart with a BB gun, Angie decided to spend what remained of her money on Lotto tickets. Probably about as good a chance of winning!! |
