After touring the Glacier, we went on to Jasper. That evening we had dinner on the veranda at Jasper Lodge. What a view from our table! View eating on the veranda at Jasper Lodge

Relaxing after Dinner After a great steak dinner outside on the veranda of Jasper Lodge, I just had to try out these rustic rockers in the lobby. Very comfortable!

Near Jasper is Lake Maligne. A 45 minute boat ride takes you to Spirit Island, and one of the prettiest spots I've ever seen. Unfortunately my picture doesn't begin to do it justice. Spirit Island in Lake Maligne

We spent two nights at Jasper, staying in the Sawridge Motel, which I will certainly recommend. There are plenty of canyons, waterfalls, lakes and trails to keep you interested and busy while you are there.
Finally the time came to say our goodbys and head back south to the states. We decided to make another stop at Lake Louise and walk the path round the lake to the Glacier at the far end. After we started, however, the signposts indicated that it was only a little farther to take the Lake Agnes trail up to the teahouse at the peak.
Little did we know! Apparently some of those Canadians have some awfully long measuring sticks, or a strange sense of humor. What was billed at 2.7 Km must have been 0.7 km horizontal and 2.0 km vertical!

Angie struggles up the trail followed by Pat and Ann Boy that trail was steep - all the way! We met up with Pat and Ann near Mirror Lake. They were some locals from Canmore, and kept prodding us not to give up, but to continue on up to the teahouse. If we hadn't seen some grandfatherly looking 80 year olds that had already made it, I'm sure we would have quit long before here.
