2021: Reba Finch also snapped this picture of Angie and I at the reunion just as we were about to leave. |
2021: The Dyer High School Class of 1961 was the largest in history at that time with 36 graduates. At least 13 of us made it to the 60th anniversary reunion plus teacher Mrs. Alice Brewer who looks younger than any of us! She must be the energizer bunny of Dyer! Thanks to Reba Finch for taking this with my phone. More pictures from the reunion are posted here on Flickr along with those of earlier reunions. Newest pictures at the top and oldest at the bottom. |
2021: It seems like everytime I've gone to Tennessee in the last few years the snakes come out to greet me. Max discovered this fellow and alerted us. Folks tell me this is a rat snake, but he thought he was a rattler. That tail was shaking to beat the band but with no rattles there was no sound. I decided he wasn't bothering me so I'd not bother him! |
2021: Lucas is growing up fast and looking like Joe Kool in his sunglasses. |
2021: We actually had a winter this year. Boy Howdy, did we ever! In addition to about 4-6" of powder dry snow we got down to -2° F (-19° C) and we did without electricity for a day or so. The house got down to about 50°F (10° C), but we just put on another layer of goose down and went back to reading. Sure made for some good snugglin'! |
2020: Wow! Kevin's a great uncle now too! His niece Emily just had a New Year's baby son! These babies are popping up faster than I can keep up with! |
2019: While everyone was enjoying the December "Lost Friends' Luncheon" at Abuelo's, Angie and I were in an observation car on the Panama Canal Railway getting a scenic look at the canal and surrounding jungle from a different perspective. We were on a 15 day cruise from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale via the Canal. Here we're off to look at the new Agua Clara locks which have been built since we were last here. Pictures from the cruise are posted here on Flickr. |
2019: We've also got a new great nephew! Ping and Kevin Chu welcomed new son Lucas into the world just a few days ago! Here's Kevin holding Lucas. |
2019: Here's my new sweetheart, Ei Shin! She's all dressed up in a new dress, has her ear rings and dancin' shoes on, and is ready to party! She's our great niece, the grand daughter of Angie's youngest brother. |
2019: Just before I got to Tennessee, Joe suddenly got in need of some storage space. He had this "storage shed" built and installed on the property. We quickly determined that it was going to be a great place to just sit and talk a spell and maybe watch it rain. I have a feeling that front room will soon see air conditioning and that a man cave is in the works! |
2019: I had a great time seeing some of my old friends, relatives, and high school classmates in Tennessee this year. Here at the reunion dinner are Alice Ball McCutcheon, Carol Stockton Mannon, and John Taylor. John has been the mastermind behind these reunion dinners. As usual, all the pictures are collected in this album on Flickr in the |
2019: Things are finally getting back to normal around here. Angie's back from an unexpectedly long stay in Taiwan. One month turned into three! While visiting for a month to spend Chinese New Year with her mother and family, she was brutally attacked on 22 February 2019 by a knife wielding, drug crazed woman and cut badly in the abdomen and hands. This news article gives a fairly close account of what happened. Thanks to excellent care at the University Hospital in Tainan, Taiwan, the damage was expertly repaired, and now she's well on her way to recovery. In this picture taken in the hospital, she's wearing hospital pajammas and an abdomen support belt which she thought made her look like a Kung Fu fighter. Hence she struck the pose with her mother. This was about a week after the incident happened. We learned just after Christmas 2019 that the woman responsible for the attack was sentenced to 7½ years in prison. |
2018: We finished up our 2018 Southampton-Singapore cruise with a stop by Taiwan to see lots of friends from the old days and of course, family. While in Taiwan we had a great time seeing old friends, revisiting old favorite spots, and seeing lots of places new to us. While we were in the Taipei area Lynn Liu drove us all over North Taiwan it seemed, and acted as guide to the MTR, new to us. Here we've stopped outside the entry gate to the Grand Hotel in Taipei for a snap shot. For us it was a really nice warm day, but for locals it was getting cold with winter approaching. L-R: Jenny, once Angie's room mate, Lynn, a long time friend, AiYueh, Angie's older sister, and Angie. |
2018: Our cruise terminated in Singapore where we made a quick transfer to the Changi Singapore airport for a flight to Taiwan. Angie and I took advantage of the extensive Christmas decorations to get a picture which I later used for our Christmas card. |
2018: Angie and I at the "Rock of Gibraltar". This was a treat as neither of us had been here before. And those monkeys are even more mischievous than they told you! |
2018: In 2018 when the opportunity arose to take a cruise from Southampton England to Singapore through the Suez Canal we jumped on it. It was a 38 day cruise stopping at a lot of places we had never been plus some we were happy to see again. Here I am back on board after a day of touring Malta about to enjoy some ice cream. One for me and one for Angie who is taking the picture. It's a tough life but someone has to do it! Pictures of the entire cruise are posted here, and if you're really into cruise pictures, all of our cruises - so far - are here. |
2018: Angie invited April and Isabella Allen to join her and Margarita Flores for Dim Sum recently. I was shocked when these two lovely young ladies showed up at the door. Seems like it was just a few days ago that they were just little tykes, playing tea parties and climbing trees! Now Isabella's starting high school, April is starting college, and Jim is feeling a lot older! L-R: April Allen, Isabella Allen, and Angie Harrison |
2018: We made it to the Ennis Bluebonnet Trails festival this year!. More pictures here. |
2018: Look who won $50 at the Rockwell Collins Retirees meeting! Connie Wallner is on "Cloud 9!" |
2018: Angie and I have been enjoying the beautiful spring weather as well as the food and flowers at the Dallas Arboretum. Lots more pictures here. |
