Lost Friends Luncheon #56 - 13 Jan 2006

Nothing like starting the new year off with a Friday the 13'th luncheon! We even got a different table for a change since Marilyn forgot we were scheduled. This time the ladies put in a long overdue appearance and we got to catch up on what's been going on with everybody. (We guys stayed around 'til nearly 2:30 chewing the fat!)

L-R: Doug Dreggors, Mike Crye, Marvin Howard, Lynne Saunders, Jim Harrison, Melissa Cunningham, Nona Babb.

The Lunch Bunch

Lost Friends Luncheon #57 - 13 Feb 2006

Would you look at this turnout!

Now this is like old home week!

Starting up at the head table with Tash, there's Mike Crye, Marvin Howard, George Huling, Carol Avenna, Ted McCabe, Lynne Saunders, Mac Eaves, Betty McCabe, Diane Dercks, and the back of John Volkman's head!

Up here at the ''head table'' starting at bottom left, Dennis Kaplan, Ron Seymour, Tashima, Mike Crye, Marvin Howard, George Huling, John Volkman, Don McFaddin, and John Plant. Carol Avenna and Ted McCabe at far right.

The ''head'' table

Don McFaddin

And just in from running back and forth to Alaska he says, is Don McFaddin. Sure good to see him after all these years. When I first came to work in January of 1967, there was no place to put me so I was stuffed into an office with Don and Claude McCrory. Some how we both survived, although I'm sure Don scared a few years off me when he set off that air horn behind me at Gibson's one lunch hour!

This is the first time Don's graced us with his presence, and I hope it's just the first of many.

Teddy McCabe paid us a visit along with Betty while they were visiting in the area. They say the Hurricane Katrina damage is still a mess down where they live.

Here's Teddy Bear!

Ron Seymour, Don McFaddin, George Huling and Mac Eaves

By the time most folks had to leave, we were still trying to catch up on all the happenings. Here Ron Seymour, Don McFaddin, George Huling, and Mac Eaves are still at it.

Lost Friends Luncheon #58 - 13 Mar 2006

In March we were happy to have a good turnout of old friends.

CW around the table from lower left: Marv Howard, Mike Crye, Dennis Kaplan, Joe Strickland, Doug Dreggors, Bob Everett, Dorothy McGrath, George Huling, Frances Bradford, John Volkman, Janice Murray, waitress Marilyn, Diane Dercks, Lynne Saunders, and Minoru Tashima.

Tash told us this would probably be his last luncheon as they're moving back to Hawaii to be closer to aging parents. We're sure going to miss seeing him.

A good turnout!

L-R: George Huling, Frances Bradford, John Volkman, and Janice Murray.

It's been a long time since we saw Janice. If she looks like she's giving thanks, it's probably true. She told me she was glad to be back to working in IT in the Metroplex after a long spell working working alone for a church over in Quinland.

I'm still trying to figure out that look on Frances' face: disbelieving? adoring? skeptical? Looks like I should have spent more time over here to hear what John was saying!

Over in the NW corner, the folks that seemed to hide in all the other pictures!

From Left: Doug Dreggors, Bob Everett, Dorothy McGrath, George Huling, and Frances Bradford.

Another view of most of the room, CW from bottom: Mike Crye, Dennis Kaplan, Joe Strickland, Doug Dreggors, Bob Everett, Dorothy McGrath, George Huling, Frances Bradford, John Volkman, Janice Murray, Diane Dercks, Lynne Saunders, and Minoru Tashima

Lost Friends Luncheon #59 - 13 April 2006

April Lost Friends Luncheon

April had a better than expected turnout. Both Tashima and the Wallners were still in town and came by.

Going around the table CCW, Ken Mitchell, Dave Cerney, Eldon Streck, Mike Crye, George Huling, Bob Everett, Marvin Howard, Marilyn, Tashima, Jim Harrison, and Connie Wallner.

George Huling says I always catch him with his mouth open or full of food or some such, so we worked together to get this hopefully better picture of George with Mike Crye looking on in the background.

George and Mike

Bill England, Marv Howard and Bob Everett

Bob Everett kept scooting out of the picture, so I caught him along with Marvin Howard and Bill England. Had to wait 'til he closed his eyes, but it worked!

Mike Crye borrowed my camera to look it over and decided to get even with me by taking my picture. Considering his subject, I'd say he did a good job.

Lost Friends Luncheon #61 - 13 Jun 2006

June '06 Luncheon

I missed May's luncheon while I was cruising 'round Europe, and I hear I missed seeing Bruce Epple. Come on back Bruce!

This month I managed to catch up with what's going on from Wanda Fox, Lynne Saunders, Ray Housley and Rex Stephens.

Also got to see Chuck Flint, Doug Dreggors, and Jim and Connie Wallner who are still in Town. Chuck told us that he managed to get the hang of retirement on the first day! Way to go Chuck!.

Lost Friends Luncheon #62 - 13 July 2006

July Lost Friends Luncheon

We had a great turnout for July's luncheon. Bill Mertz, and Joyce Guthrie put in long overdue appearances, and were joined by Janice Murray, Frances Bradford, Wanda Fox, Lynne Saunders, Mike Crye, Dennis Kaplan, Eldon Streck, Marvin Howard, Jim and Connie Wallner, Dorothy McGrath and myself.

You can tell everyone was having a good time. Clockwise from bottom: Janice Murray, Frances Bradford, Wanda Fox, Bill Mertz, Lynne Saunders, Mike Crye, Dennis Kaplan, Eldon Streck, Marvin Howard, Jim Wallner, Connie Wallner, and Dorothy McGrath.

George and Mike

Bill England, Marv Howard and Bob Everett

Up at the other end of the table Dennis and Mike were in what appears to be a serious discussion while Eldon Streck is grinning like a Cheshire cat.

It was sure good to see Joyce Guthrie again. It's been ages since she dropped by. Near as I can tell, she's describing to Janice and Frances the one that got away!

Lost Friends Luncheon #63 - 14 August 2006

August Lost Friends Luncheon

I walked into Tino's for the August luncheon and found the place packed. Lots of new faces too. Starting at far right and going Counter clockwise: Diane Dercks, Rex Stephens, Marvin Howard, Frances Bradford, Klaus Gehr, Nona Babb, Wanda Fox, Lynne Saunders, and Dave Cerney.

Marilyn was taking orders from Ray Housley, George Huling, and Chuck Flint.

Poke with Mr. & Mrs. Art Waxler

Now here are some folks you haven't seen in a while - Pōk (Weldon Lowe), and Mr. and Mrs. Art Waxler!

Back over in the corner Doug Dreggors and Dave Cerney were trying to remember what to order.

Tino himself came over to check on us (probably to see what all the noise was about!) and make sure everything was OK. Jim Wallner is trying to look innocent while Klaus Gehr studies his plate.

Nona Babb and Chuck Flint

Nona Babb and Chuck Flint look in a very good mood.

Art Waxler was a sight for sore eyes. Haven't seen him in ages.

Art Waxler

Connie Wallner and Weldon Lowe

Connie Wallner and Weldon Lowe discovered that after all these years, they were both connected via a small far west Texas town.

For that matter, I found out that Wanda Fox has been an almost a next door neighbor of mine for the last 30+ years, and neither of us knew it!

I slipped up and wound up in a picture too! Here I am with Marvin Howard, Jim Wallner, and George Huling. Thanks to Mike Crye for taking the picture.

And here's the culprit himself, Mike Crye.  (Thanks for taking my picture Mike!)

And the Bobbsey Twins of baseball, Ray Housely and Rex Stephens were having a ball. OF COURSE they're going to be at the Rough Riders game tonight!

And Ray, it's really hard deciding which is your "good side".

Lost Friends Luncheon #64 - 13 September 2006

Oliver Rankin, Jim Harrison, Mrs. Rankin, Marilyn, George Huling, and Marvin Howard

Who should show up for the September luncheon but Oliver Rankin and his better half. Oliver kept us entertained with his mis-adventures throughout lunch.

L-R: Myself with Mr. & Mrs. Oliver Rankin, George Huling, Marilyn, and Marvin Howard.

I'm not sure whether Mike was trying to wake Doug up or if they were in the middle of a long complicated story.

Up at the head of the table something sure has the attention of Marvin Howard and the Waxler's.

Marvin Howard, Mr. & Mrs Art Waxler, Doug Dreggors, and Mike Crye

Frances Bradford catching up with Oliver Rankin

When I accused Frances Bradford of being anti-social and told her I'd push Oliver out of the way and let her join up tables, she suddenly realized who was sitting behind her! To the left of Frances is Klaus Gehr.

Not shown is Diane Dercks who left before I took the picture, and Bill England who arrived afterwards.

Lost Friends Luncheon #65 - 13 Oct 2006

Wow, but did we have a turnout for the October Luncheon!

L-R: Mike Crye, Larry Pavlicek, Bob Everett, Marvin Howard, Marilyn, Bill England, John Volkman, Don McFaddin, George Huling, Rex Stephens, Ray Housley, Jim Wallner, Connie Wallner.

Here's Larry Pavlicek, Bob Everett, Marvin Howard, and Dixie Kline. This was Dixie's first visit, and we sure hope she'll be back again soon.

Clockwise... more or less ... from the bottom left, Mrs. Art Waxler, Art himself, Bill England, John Volkman, Don McFaddin, George Huling, Rex Stephens, Ray Housley, Oliver Rankin (in the cowboy outfit), Mrs. Rankin, and Dorothy McFaddin.

As usual, leaving is a long drawn out affair, and everyone has to get in a few last words.

Georgette Hamad, Janice Murray, Frances Bradford, Hans Gehr, and Amy Gehr

We had so many folks we couldn't even get them all at the table!

Relaxing over in a booth were Georgette Hamad, Janice Murray, Frances Bradford, Klaus Gehr, and Amy Gehr.

Lost Friends Luncheon #66 - 13 November 2006

Long time, no see! Between Steve's stint in the active military followed by working for Farinon in San Antonio, its been too long since we've seen either him or Angie at a luncheon. They tell me they've now got an RV and are contemplating some travel in the future.

Steve and Angie Rocha

Mike Crye, Bill England, Dave Kuester, Doug Dreggors, Mauricio Nuņez, Steve and Angie Rocha

Joining Steve and Angie on the back bench were (L-R) Mike Crye, Bill England, Dave Kuester, Doug Dreggors, and Mauricio Nuņez. It's been a long time since Mauricio came by to see us too.

And thanks to Mike Crye for this picture with me in it! Clockwise from lower left: Don Erb, Raymond Corral, Doug Dreggors, Mauricio Nuņez, Marvin Howard, George Huling, Jim Harrison, Klaus Gehr, and Georgette Hamad.
