Lost Friends Luncheon #1 - 13 June 2001

Lynn Saunders and Gail Greene

Lynne Saunders sent me an email the other day and asked if I'd be her "long lost friend" at a luncheon get together with a bunch of old friends. You can bet your boots I said yes! So today I got to see a lot of friends I haven't seen in ages, and here are the pictures to prove it.

Yep, there was a whole lot of catching up to do, a lot of "really?" tall tales told, and a good time had by all.

Here Rhonda Collinsworth tells a tale that leaves Annette Wooldridge incredulous while Carol Avenna looks on.

No! Did you hear .....

Posing

Once they realized I was taking pictures, of course, everyone got all prim and proper and started to pose instead of being candid.

Deborah Penn and Vickie Wright.

Vickie Wright and Kelly Massie

Kelly Massie was adamant that she wasn't going to have her picture taken, but she was too busy laughing here to notice.

Meredith Martin swore it wasn't her, but obviously Vickie Patterson wasn't buying that!

Sorry! It must have been the beans!

Lost Friends Luncheon #2 - 13 July 2001

Surrounded by beautiful women. - I must be doing something right!

Friday the 13th of July didn't keep anyone from the second of the "Lost Friends Luncheons". Well, theoretically it was a bout with a gall bladder removal that kept Lynne away, but I'm sure she'll make the next one.

Connie grabbed my camera to take my picture, and I insisted that all the girls join me. Am I a lucky guy or what?

L-R, Gail Greene, Kelly Massie, Annette Wooldridge, Rhonda Collinsworth, Jim Harrison, and Judy Roman

All the usual crew was there, and we were all having a great time. Everybody was so busy laughing that I managed to get a few candid shots.

Carol Avenna

Carol Avenna is seriously considering what's good to eat.

Deborah was at the head of the table - or was it the foot? Which has to pay?

Vickie Wright brought along Linda Moore.

Tamara Dugas, whom I haven't seen in ages was also there, sitting next to Meredith Martin.

Judy Roman, Mike Crye, and Linda Jean Dolby

Judy Roman brought along Mike Crye, who's retired now, and Linda Dolby, two folks I hadn't seen in ages.

Mike's says he's still flying, and has moved to Allen. I know from reading about her on her extensive web pages that Linda has to be about the most busy person I've ever known. Not only does she have her personal web pages which are extensive and impressive, but she's also responsible for two Connecticut counties as well as Dallas county Texas in the USGenWeb project,

Just keeping this web and a couple of smaller ones up is more than a full time job for me, and I'm retired!

And I brought along Jim and Connie Wallner, who are just back from wandering around South and East Texas. They recently completed an extensive vacation in Florida in their RV.

Connie said she bought Jim that shirt to match his hair. I'd say she did a good job of matching it up.

Lost Friends Luncheon #2½ - 24 July 2001

Gail Brigham, Joyce Guthrie, and Charlotte Trimble

Joyce Guthrie decided it was time to take the company up on the early retirement offer this time, but couldn't make the previous 13th of July lunch. So there was a  special lunch just for her on the 24th. Here she's flanked by Gail Brigham on the left and Charlotte Trimble on the right. It sure was good to see all of them again.

Some new faces also attending were Laquetta Goodman, Pat Lawson-Best, and Willie Williams. It was Nice to get to see all of you again.

Happy Hour - 25 July 2001

Joyce Guthrie and Tabor Bearden

The following night a "happy hour" get together was held at the Richardson Omni Hotel for Joyce. A lot of other old friends showed up too. Here's Joyce with Taber Bearden who is also retiring!

Joseph Fleet dropped by to say hello. Joe used to be my next door neighbor in cube land up in Plano.

Joseph Fleet

Melissa Cunningham, Joyce Guthrie, and John Bleck

Melissa Cunningham and John Bleck, a couple more old friends I haven't seen in a long time, joined Joyce for a picture.

Michaeline Cross and Tamara Dugas joined in the festivities. Joyce's daughters are seated at the table.

This, and the following happy hour pictures, were taken by Alphonso Alexander who graciously agreed to let me display them on the site. Thanks Al for some really good pictures. Wish there were room for all of them.

Joyce's daughters joined her for a picture. As I told her she "dun gud!" 'Nuff said.

During the luncheon the day before, Joyce had said that she had promised Johnny she was going to prepare him three home cooked meals a day from now on. When I mentioned it, I heard some comment from him like . . . "liar, liar, pants on fire!" I don't think he believes in the Easter Bunny either!

Joyce's daughters seem about to collapse in laughter while Vickie Patterson observes as Joyce tries to wiggle out of this one. I'll testify as a witness Johnny!

Johnny's hoping to retire as Richardson's postmaster in October, but says Joyce wants him to stay on until February.

Johnny was taking it all in and seemed to be saying "just wait 'til we get home!"

Betty and Vic Cawoski also came by and joined in the party. Vic is also retiring. Nice to see Vic and Betty again. Many years ago Betty was in an office next door to me in building 406, and Vic and I were in Dennis Kaplan's group together for a few years. I declare they both get younger looking every time I see them.

For you folks that haven't been by the old Collins campus lately, here's a picture of the original red brick building 401 I took back in March 2001. The empty parking lot and employee entrance is at right with the lobby entrance at left. Everything on the old campus has been painted this same shade of brown. Looks more boring than Santa Fe!

Lost Friends Luncheon #3 - 13 August 2001

Joyce Guthrie, Mike Crye, and Rex Stephens

There were a few new faces at the third "Lost Friends Luncheon". Here's Joyce Guthrie looking very relaxed after a couple of weeks of retirement, along with Mike Crye, and Rex Stephens. Rex retired the preceding Friday, and Mike retired shortly before I did.

Betty Merritt is also taking in the story Rex is telling.

Mike Crye even insisted on taking my picture along with Rex and Joyce. Thanks, Mike!

Lost Friends Luncheon #4 - 13 September 2001

Chrystal Pierce and Nephew Blake

More new faces showed up at the fourth "Lost Friends Luncheon". Crystal Pierce came in with her nephew Blake and his stuffed monkey "Mooch".

Blake started out on chips, but soon figured out that the catsup on the French fries was even better than the salsa on the chips. Mooch evidently agreed. See for yourself below!

Ummm, Ummm, good!

Betty Merritt appears to be setting Taber straight. Not sure just what the guys in the background were thinking about all this!

Taber Bearden and Betty Merritt

Gina

And it was the first time I've seen Gina Moran in a long, long time.

Daria Perozzi put in an appearance too. Sure looks like marriage is agreeing with her. See if you can't talk Paul into coming along too next time Daria. We'd like to see him again also. It's been a long time!

Daria Perozzi

Linda-Jeanne and Ed Dolby

Ed Dolby joined Linda-Jeanne for lunch this time and they seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Michaeline Cross put in an appearance, sitting next to the photographically invisible Mary Chavis. Now Mike, aren't you glad you didn't listen to Mary when she told you not to have your picture taken!

Lost Friends Luncheon #5 - 13 October 2001

Charlotte Trimble

In October the thirteenth fell on a weekend, so our Lost Friends Luncheon was held on the following Monday, the fifteenth. Everyone in attendance had made a luncheon before, and has their picture in the previous pages. Charlotte wasn't sure hers counted though, since it wasn't a regular luncheon she attended.

Anyway, we've got a new picture and Charlotte is this month's poster girl!

Lost Friends Luncheon #6 - 13 November 2001

November saw a great turnout for the luncheon. After lunch, we managed to get almost everyone together for a group picture. From Left to right, Dave Christian, Diane Dercks, Dennis Kaplan, Rex Stephens, Joyce Guthrie, Lynne Saunders, Jim Wallner, Connie Wallner, Carol Avenna, Pat Lawson-Best, Linda-Jeanne Dolby, Deborah Penn, Annette Wooldridge, Rhonda Collinsworth, Betty Merritt, Vickie Wright, and Linda Moore.

Dennis Kaplan

Two new faces showed up for November's luncheon. It was really good to see Dennis Kaplan and Norma Barnes again.

Dennis reports his wife is now doing quite well and interested in genealogy. Norma sneaked off before I could get her in the group picture.
